Project Objectives / Challenges

Project Objectives / Challenges

  • A Florida self-storage developer needed a high-performance insulated metal panel system for a large-scale, modern commercial facility. The build called for a durable, thermally efficient exterior envelope that could deliver long-term performance, withstand Florida’s climate, and still look like a premium architectural storage property.
    • The project scope covered roughly 32,000 square feet of vertically installed insulated metal panels across the facility exterior, with a custom Pearl Gray finish on the outside and a clean Polar White interior panel to support a modern, high-end aesthetic.
    • Coordination was a major part of the challenge. The team had to manage evolving construction schedules, multiple drawing revisions, and longer lead times for custom-colored metal, while keeping panel delivery aligned with critical construction milestones.
    • The owner also needed flexibility throughout preconstruction as specifications and finish selections continued to evolve, without sacrificing the durability and energy-efficiency benefits of an insulated metal panel build.

The PermaTherm Solution

The PermaTherm Solution

  • PermaCore PHF43 Light Mesa in Polar White was the right panel for this self storage build. The Poly-iso insulated core, vertical Light Mesa profile, and hands-on PermaTherm project support gave the contractor a single panelized system that addressed performance, aesthetics, and schedule pressure simultaneously.
    • PermaCore PHF43 was selected for its combination of strong thermal performance, long-term durability, and architectural versatility in a single panelized system. The polyisocyanurate (Poly-iso) insulated core delivered the R-value needed to support an energy-efficient envelope in Florida’s heat and humidity, while enhancing temperature consistency and moisture resistance throughout the facility.
    • The vertical Light Mesa profile in custom Pearl Gray gave the building the clean lines and modern exterior appearance the design called for, paired with a Polar White interior to keep unit interiors bright and uniform.
    • The panelized approach significantly streamlined installation compared to traditional multi-component wall assemblies. Because the panels arrive pre-insulated and engineered for rapid installation, the contractor team was able to reduce field labor, simplify coordination, and accelerate the building envelope phase, which mattered on an aggressive timeline.

Results/Outcome

Results/Outcome

  • The finished facility delivered on every front. Production was sequenced to match the customer’s requested delivery windows, the building envelope went up faster than a traditional multi-component assembly, and the owner ended up with a durable, energy-efficient self-storage property with the premium look the design called for.
    • Production was coordinated to align with the customer’s requested November and December 2025 delivery windows, despite the longer lead times tied to custom-colored metal. PermaTherm adjusted its production schedule and maintained close communication with the customer to support the accelerated construction timeline.
    • The most successful part of the project was the collaboration and adaptability between PermaTherm and the project team. Despite evolving timelines, specification changes, and custom material requirements, the build moved forward efficiently with a high-performance panel solution that delivered both architectural appeal and long-term building performance.
    • Throughout the project, the PermaTherm team supported the build with quote revisions, design coordination, production scheduling, and delivery management as timelines shifted. They worked closely with the customer on custom-colored metal procurement, finish confirmations, and ongoing communication as specifications changed, giving the project a single point of contact for the panel scope.
