Expanding Warehouse and Shipping Capacity for Food Production

A Georgia food processing operator added 30,000 square feet of warehouse and shipping space to support continued growth. The expansion required 15,039 square feet of insulated panel coverage for conditioned areas that had to connect with active operations while meeting the thermal, durability, and appearance expectations of a food-grade facility.

PHF43 Panels Replaced a Multi-Step Sheet Metal Assembly

PermaTherm supplied PermaCore PHF43 Light Mesa insulated metal panels in Polar White. Each panel combines a PolyIso insulating core, rigid metal facings, and a concealed fastening profile, replacing the separate sheet metal and fiberglass insulation steps used in a traditional wall assembly.

• Current PHF43 product data lists an R-value of R-8.2 per inch of thickness, helping the conditioned warehouse and shipping areas limit heat transfer.
• Factory-made panels reduced the amount of fastening and field assembly compared with the thinner sheet metal system considered for the project.
• The integrated panel design delivered insulation and finished surfaces together, which simplified coordination and gave the expansion a consistent appearance.

More Conditioned Space With a Faster Installation

The expansion was completed in August 2024 with 15,039 square feet of Polar White panel coverage. The finished enclosure increased warehouse and shipping capacity while reducing installation steps that would have been required for separate sheet metal and fiberglass components.

• Fewer fasteners and no separate fiberglass installation helped crews complete the enclosure faster than the traditional alternative.
• The rigid PHF43 panel assembly added structural integrity while supporting the thermal performance required for conditioned food processing space.
• The finished surfaces gave the new warehouse and shipping areas a clean, coordinated appearance that fit the surrounding facility.
